About last night

Some thoughts from last night’s conversation:

  1. You can’t live life scared, so experience things. Take a chance. Great rewards come from great risk.
  2. Comparing yourself to others is one thing, comparing to fantasy (i.e.: social media personas) is impossible -‐ you’ll never win.
  3. Figure out what success means to you and set goals. You can’t dismiss someone else’s ideas if you don’t have clear direction.
  4. Don’t expect good things to happen if you aren’t willing to devote the time – i.e.: agreeing to go to a date party and then getting stood up last minute because you haven’t made the effort to get to know the other person (how would that make you feel?). Expecting to make a good grade on a test when you’ve blown off studying. You never get something for nothing.
  5. Give yourself a break. You aren’t perfect and never will be. Everyone has something they would like to change about themselves. Turn your weakness into your strength.
  6. Be yourself. You’ll find that to be a very good thing.

Love, dad
